9yo boy faces charges after Amazon Echo records him during break

A 9-year-old MA boy faces breaking and entering charges after his voice was captured by "Alexa" on an Amazon Echo device he stole from his neighbor's home, according to The Gloucester Times.

According to police, someone had entered a Gloucester home three times over the past week and took an iPhone, charger, cash and the Alexa Echo digital assistant, The Gloucester Times reported.

He also stole an unopened Amazon package that was sitting on his neighbor's porch.

The woman told police that she had an audio recording of a voice taken from the Alexa on her phone, proving that someone had been in her apartment and connected to her Wi-Fi. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.

The boy eventually showed police where he had hidden the stolen items and officers returned the stolen items to the woman.

McCain to come back to Senate Tuesday
People with health care problems had speculated on social media how McCain would vote, and his decision disappointed many. Republicans are holding the high-stakes vote on Tuesday to open debate on legislation to repeal and replace "Obamacare".

Neither the boy nor his mother gave a statement regarding the charges or his motive for stealing the items.

The child will face charges in juvenile court.

CNBC, citing sources close to the matter, reports that Amazon has a secret lab, dubbed 1492, that is focused on exploring, among other things, a platform for electronic medical records, health apps for devices like Echo, and telemedicine opportunities.

The Echo can be activated with a handful of voice commands, including "Alexa", "Amazon", "Computer" or "Echo", according to Fox News. The sources said it was not clear whether Amazon is developing any new health devices, but they would not rule it out.

In 2015, Amazon fought back against a warrant served to it for voice data from a suspect's Echo device, saying it would violate its customer privacy standards.
