Bombers hit Nigeria internally-displaced people's camp

No lesser than four persons were on Sunday killed and at least 13 injured when multiple bomb blasts hit two Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), camps in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Terror group Boko Haram is most likely to be responsible for the attacks, local residents said.

Both incidents took place late Sunday night.

Boko Haram often targets the city with suicide bombers and increasingly has been using female ones.

"The first attacker made it into the camp and blew himself up killing and injuring the IDPs".

According to the source, two female suicide bombers carried out the attacks in Dalori, about 4 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of the northeastern state of Borno.

Late a year ago, Nigeria's government declared the group "crushed" but dozens of such attacks have taken place in 2017.

The latest attacks happened a few days after the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, issued a 40-day ultimatum to the Theatre commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole, to fish out the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Boko Haram has been blamed for the deaths of more than 20,000 people and displacing of 2.3 million others in Nigeria since their insurgency started in 2009.

An internal army memo, seen by AFP, also indicated Boko Haram was back in its "Camp Zero" enclave in the Sambisa Forest of Borno, which had been declared cleared in December a year ago.
