Facebook Introduces Ads in the Messenger App

It's called News Feed, and for the past five years, it has been the company's core money maker and source of revenue growth.

The ads won't be any different from what you always see in News Feed. The social media behemoth through the service, is trying to catch in on how quickly the number of people who visit its "buy and sell" Groups each month has increased to 450 million. Surprisingly, this test must have been very successful as Facebook announced the advertising option will be enabled worldwide.

It started selling ads inside Facebook Messenger, and was in Cannes to sell and educate ad buyers on Messenger ads just last month. For now, the few ads you will see on the service will run as test, with only a few percentage of users in the U.S. able to access it. Like Google, the social network frequently experiments with new ideas, and groups of users are often used to beta test features.

WhatsApp is the most popular app in the world and has over 1 billion users, this is followed closely by Facebook Messenger and WeChat with 1 billion.

Golub Group LLC Increases Position in Mattel, Inc. (MAT)
Mattel Inc. had 28 analyst reports since July 28, 2015 according to SRatingsIntel. 3,943,242 shares of the stock were exchanged. The investment managers in our partner's database now possess: 323.62 million shares, up from 315.31 million shares in 2016Q3.

So if Facebook can't show people more ads in News Feed, and can't get unblocked in China, it needs to show them ads somewhere else. Or at least that's the hope.

The introduction of ads in Messenger is being implemented because Facebook believes that revenue growth will slow down in the coming years and they hope that this will help boost revenue again.

Ads will be displayed on the home tab of the Messenger app, Facebook said, adding that users clicking on the ads will either be taken to the advertiser's website or to a chat window where they can interact with the brand.

That means that Facebook's next cash cow is already working.
