Jaime Garcia Reportedly Traded by Braves to Twins

The Minnesota Twins are looking to upgrade their pitching rotation for baseball's stretch drive and have reportedly checked in with the Atlanta Braves about Jaime Garcia.

Not incredible, but enough that he could help a team in the hunt like the Twins who are now a half a game back of Cleveland for the division lead. Garcia is a nine-year veteran, eight of them with the St. Louis Cardinals, who owns a career 3.65 ERA, though it has slipped to 4.33 this season. With him being a rental for the rest of the season and a free agent after 2017, a marginal prospect should get the deal done. The teams are believed to be negotiating over whether the Twins will pay the entire amount.

The southpaw's numbers this season are not very good - he has a 4.33 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 106 innings.

The Twins are asking for an additional Braves player in the deal as well, the source said, though not necessarily a major leaguer. He becomes the second Braves pitcher to be acquired by the Twins recently after they signed Bartolo Colon to a minor-league deal following his release from the Braves.

The Norfolk Souther Corporation (NYSE:NSC) Shares Bought by Ronna Sue Cohen
It dropped, as 54 investors sold NSC shares while 354 reduced holdings. 44 funds opened positions while 112 raised stakes. Also, there are 0 buy, 0 sell and 3 strong sell ratings, collectively assigning a 2.54 average brokerage recommendation.

Medical issues are being explored by the Twins as they close in on an agreement.

One worry with Garcia is his history with injuries, despite not dealing with any yet this year.

The Minnesota rotation has a 4.91 ERA, which ranks 13th in the 15-team American League.

Additionally, from his days with St. Louis Cardinals, Garcia has ample experience pitching in pennant races, as well as the postseason.
