Man Utd boss Mourinho admits senior trio will miss season kickoff

Jose Mourinho can "guarantee" David De Gea will be staying at Manchester United this summer, saying Real Madrid missed the chance to sign the goalkeeper.

"You know, names is hard for me because as you know the players belong to clubs, the players they are in pre-seasons", Mourinho added.

Mourinho, whilst insisting he is happy with the business done so far, is keen to add a third, with Nemanja Matic, Ivan Perisic and Eric Dier all linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

"So we open it and then they made a decision to close and I think the feeling from him is very very good. Because he's a very honest boy, very straight", Mourinho said ahead of the worldwide friendly between the two clubs in northern California Sunday.

De Gea has always been linked with a return to the Spanish captial but, speaking on United's pre-season tour of the USA, Mourinho insisted there is no chance De Gea will leave this summer - and suggested Real may have burned their bridges.

The next big challenge is the International Champions Cup encounter with La Liga champions and UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.

Manchester City close to signing Danilo from Real Madrid
Brazilian Danilo , 26, becomes City's fifth signing of the summer following the arrival of Kyle Walker , Bernardo Silva , Douglas Luis and goalkeeper, Ederson Moraes.

"I'm impressed with Romero, but also with David", he said.

"I think the best thing that could happen to David was the way Romero played last season, because until then David was clearly a safe man, a safe choice and after what Romero did last season David thinks he's training in another way".

"He is a goalkeeper who can give you points". He is in a very good situation now.

"If you lose the top three in any position, like David is a great loss", Herrera told British media.

"But both are very good and for Joel [Pereira] to be learning with them and playing with us is good".

"To make a better squad, but with the development of the market, you know, I was getting the feedback from Mr Woodward, I was analysing myself from distance because I never get involved".

Mourinho said United were open to a move for the keeper but clubs had withdrew their interest. That is very important. "I see him very happy and focused and working better than ever so for me 100% he stays with us".
