Manchester United Failed In Alvaro Morata Bid Says Jose Mourinho

Ander Herrera admits "it's a shame" that Manchester United could not sign Alvaro Morata this summer.

Morata is clear in his understanding that he is not first choice under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

However, Chelsea's attention appears to be split between a number of strikers as it stands - with Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang believed to now sit at the top of their wish list - and it could leave Milan free to secure a deal for Morata.

Mourinho confirmed United's interest in Morata on Friday when he acknowledged that negotiations with Madrid had broken down.

"Real Madrid in the European Super Cup? are the strongest team right now, they've won the last two Champions Leagues, but a Super Cup Final always motivates you". We will not be the ones who put a price on a Real Madrid player.

Mourinho suggested Lukaku's Premier League experience and his personal relationship with the player from their time together at Chelsea were the primary reasons United sought to buy the Belgium worldwide, the club also having been strongly linked with a deal for Antoine Griezmann before Atletico Madrid's transfer ban nixed the Frenchman's exit. Obviously there are other good strikers in football but the Premier League is a very specific habitat, a different habitat. Although the 21-year-old isn't quite ready yet, United will be happy for him to get vital experience and work hard to rise further.
