Switzerland: Five injured in Schaffhausen attack, say police

A MAN reportedly wielding a chainsaw has injured at least five people in a Switzerland street rampage - sparking a massive police manhunt.

Two people are said to have been seriously hurt after an unidentified male suspect launched the attack in the northern town.

The man is still on the run. Police did not confirm Blick's report of a chainsaw being involved.

Police say they are looking for the suspect following the incident in Schaffhausen.

Police and ambulances are on the scene and rescue helicopters are circling overhead, police spokeswoman Cindy Beer is quoted as saying by Swissinfo.

Part of the Old Town of Schaffhausen was sealed off by police on Monday morning due to a "special situation", Swiss media reported.

"We have been alerted and therefore assume there are injured people", she said.
