Trump attacks 'illegal leaks' about Sessions's Russian meetings

Previously existing investigations into various Trump associates have been subsumed into the special counsel probe, too, as they "directly" relate to the effort to determine motivation for Trump campaign associates' potential collusion with Russian operatives to interfere with the 2016 election.

The root of the investigation was the systematic hacking of servers and email accounts linked to the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and big-name Democratic operatives like Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

Trump tweeted, "My son Donald openly gave his e-mails to the media & authorities whereas Crooked Hillary Clinton deleted (& acid washed) her 33,000 e-mails!"

Trump Jr. had earlier expressed his willingness to testify.

But Trump Jr. had been talking about Russian Federation long before that meeting. It involved communications between Sergey Kislyak and his Moscow bosses in which the Russian Ambassador described his two now-famous conversations with U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions while Sessions was still a senator.

"Information concerning the June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Natalia Veselnitskaya is relevant to the investigation", the letter adds.

The Washington Post reported late on Friday that US intelligence officials had collected information that Russia's ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak had told his superiors in Russian Federation he had discussed campaign-related matters and policies important to Moscow previous year with Mr Sessions.

Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and top White House aide, is scheduled to speak behind closed doors with the Senate intelligence committee on Monday and the House intelligence committee on Tuesday. "They will lie and do anything to win".

In a series of early morning Twitter messages, Trump aired renewed frustration with his attorney general, the special counsel leading the Russian Federation probe, and Republicans in Congress who are struggling to advance his legislative agenda. "I don't think that that's inconsistent or hard to understand, that there would be frustration with that".

That former official also said that intelligence shows Sessions and Kislyak may have had "substantive" talks about Trump's views on Russian Federation and what the relationship would be between the United States and Russian Federation if Trump were to win the White House, according to the Post.

"[The Russia investigation] has been a 10-month witch hunt", Trump Jr. claimed during an interview on Fox News. "The woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russian Federation were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton".
