White House defends Ivanka Trump brand during 'Made in America' Week

As the White House kicks off its self-proclaimed "Made in America week", shining a spotlight on products manufactured domestically, President Donald Trump's spokesman was forced Monday to defend the fact that goods bearing the Trump name are frequently produced overseas.

Trump has signed an executive order aimed at ending an "abusive" use of waivers and exceptions to federal "Buy America" laws and ordered an audit to determine how many waivers have been granted.

"I pay a lot more money". He noted that Trump's economic policies, such as regulatory relief and tax reform, are created to serve the administration's "overall arching goal...to grow manufacturing" in the U.S. "Remember in the old days, they used to have 'Made in the U.S.A.?' 'Made in America, ' but Made in the U.S.A.' We're going to start doing that again".

Ivanka Trump's company declined to comment on the administration's proposed cuts to the labor bureau, which would eliminate grants for Better Work.

Here's the deal: The belief is that Trump is Trump's best spokesman.

Products from all 50 states have been selected to make an appearance at the White House, and the Worcester-based St. Pierre Manufacturing Corporation has been chosen to represent MA.

"I've said this since the beginning", Spicer told the press corps on June 19.

For years, the Trump Organization has outsourced much of its product manufacturing, relying on a global network of factories in a dozen countries-including Bangladesh, China and Mexico-to make its clothing, home decor pieces and other items.
"(America sets) the world standard for quality and craftsmanship". Sikorsky also makes the Marine One presidential helicopter. Another would close loopholes that allow federal agencies to waive Buy American requirements and increase from 50 to 60 percent the amount of USA -based materials a product would have to have before it qualified as American-made. Trump said at the event. They included administration officials and members of Congress.

"You could see the administration come down quite hard on this, that it's a way of saying, 'We're protecting the American workforce, ' " she said.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the administration's actions were created to reverse a policy that was "doing its best to discourage these companies from investing here at home, through job-killing deals and a rapidly expanding scheme of unnecessary regulations".
