Young actress, who is Dileep's friend, under police scanner

Fresh reports suggest Malayalam actor Dileep who is accused of carrying out the abduction and sexual assault of a young actress, has had his bail plea denied by the Kerala High Court. The police have claimed that the conspiracy to assault the actress and film the act was hatched by Dileep and Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case. Citing specifics of the evidence collected against Dileep, prosecution had informed the court that the conspiracy took place during a meeting in 2013 at a room in Abad Plaza hotel in Ernakulam. Two interrogations later, the actor was arrested. The mobile phone that was used to record the incident and the memory card containing the visuals are yet to be seized. The prosecution's argument was that the actor had given a quotation to take revenge on the actress for destroying his family life. The actress is close friends with his ex-wife Manju Warrier and that's one of the issues which allegedly irked him.

"Dileep had married a leading actress and a child was born in the matrimonial relationship". Dileep was in a 14-day judicial custody which is ending on Tuesday, July 25. It submitted that the actor was questioned by a police team for 13 hours few days before his arrest. He argued that his client had been questioned for a total of 23 hours by the police, and that he was not required any more for the goal of the investigation. Thus he has to continue at the Aluva Sub-Jail till further orders. He would be produced before the magistrate.

Besides, the DGP had added that as the crucial witnesses in the case from the Malayalam film industry, if Dileep was released on bail, he would influence these witnesses to sabotage the investigation and trial.

Let's talk: Should we have fixed four-year terms?
Under the current system, an election must be held three years or less from when parliament first sat after the previous poll. Fixed-term parliaments have been introduced in all states and territories, some by Liberal governments, others by Labor ones.

Dileep's counsel told the court that the investigators had no proof against the actor.

While rejecting the bail plea, Kerala High Court observed that "abducting and sexually assaulting a young actress in a moving vehicle was a serious crime". The gang sexually harassed the actress in a moving van for about 45 minutes before she was let go near Palarivattom.
