Charlottesville vehicle crash suspect ID'd as 20-year-old OH man

Federal law enforcement authorities have started a civil rights investigation into a deadly vehicle crash in Charlottesville that left one protestor dead and several others injured.

"Hate came to our town today in a way that we had feared but we had never really let ourselves imagine would", Charlottesville City Manager Maurice Jones said at a press conference.

The death toll includes two Virginia State Police officers who were killed when their helicopter crashed near Charlottesville.

"There is no place for you here, there is no place for you in America", he continued.

Although a few cars were held up by the march, police say the demonstration is peaceful and there have been no arrests.

The group of white nationalists had gathered to protest plans to remove a statue of the Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee while others arrived to protest the racism.

Mr Trump said: "We condemn this egregious display of bigotry and violence on many side, on many sides".

Corinne Geller, a Virignia State Police spokeswoman, says the pilot and a passenger were killed in the crash Saturday afternoon.

In related news, the Detroit Red Wings have issued a statement condemning and denying any connection to a Michigan-based group of white supremacists using the Red Wings logo.

President Trump condemned the violence, but appeared to blame all sides.

Authorities said the auto collision left 19 people injured and a total of 35 patients were treated.
