EPL: Arsenal gun down Leicester in seven-goal thriller

Shinji Okazaki scored another header to make it 1-1 three minutes later, as the Japanese forward latched on to a Harry Maguire flick-on from Marc Albrighton's cross.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he gave Olivier Giroud the chance to leave Arsenal this summer, but the powerful striker made a decision to stay put despite rumoured interest from a number of suitors including Everton.

Olivier Giroud completed an exhilarating comeback as Arsenal beat Leicester 4-3 on Friday to ensure Arsene Wenger's side opened the English Premier League with a victory for only the second time in eight seasons.

The lead unfortunately wouldn't last long as Leicester City eventually equalized just two minutes later, but the memory is one that both Lacazette and Arsenal fans will hold onto, as their new boy provided plenty of promise for the coming season.

Lacazette almost had his second of the night just minutes later, but Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel turned the shot aside, but Giroud beat the Dane with an exquisite header on the ensuing corner to give Arsenal the 4-3 victory.

The Premier League season started in incredible fashion, with two goals in a matter of minutes after the opening whistle. Not only as a player, he's a fantastic player but as well in the group.

Giroud had been linked with an exit during the summer, and Wenger admitted he considered allowing his most authentic target man to leave but the 30-year-old resisted the idea.

"Top quality game and you want PL to be best in the world and you have to produce games like that", Wenger told reporters.

Asked if there was any update on Sanchez's situation, Wenger replied: "No".

"You win 4-3, you're more happy than concerned, you know", he added.

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that because one was a corner, one was a ball we lost in the build up and the third goal was on a corner again, so we conceded two goals on corners. So overall I think he adapts slowly to the way we want to play and is a collective player and an intelligent player as well".

"We were quite good a year ago on corners and I believe with a bit of work, we can get that out of the system".

"I'm always looking for the positives, we came to the Emirates and the players executed the game plan".
