NCP skipped Congress party meeting, BJP says good decision

Karnataka is all set to go into assembly elections next year and with the increasing ouster of Congress from most states the party is in dire need of a reformed strategy to counter BJP. This is a historic moment for Bihar when the same alliance is at the helm of affairs in the state and at the Centre. "The NCP is boycotting the meeting called by Congress", said Praful Patel, a top leader from Mr Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party or NCP, making it clear that the Congress' accusations have touched a nerve.

JD (U) national general secretary KC Tyagi said, "Nitish Kumar himself will moot the proposal for joining the NDA, which will be passed unanimously".

Comparing the work done by the Congress with the BJP in the state, he said, "We have invested the same amount of money in three months as BJP had in five years".

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday criticised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-Central Government's demonetisation policy, dubbing it as the root cause of poverty and unemployment in the country today.

Leaders have admitted to their confusion in private, feeling as if the party is getting closer to BJP on a national level.

The fund owned 4,032 shares of the financial services provider's stock after buying an additional 1,481 shares during the period. The stock was purchased at an average cost of GBX 1,802 ($23.47) per share, for a total transaction of £18,020 ($23,466.60).

The JD (U) will reportedly be offered two managerial berths in the Centre, however it will take time as the party will try to replace Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar with new members in Rajya Sabha.

When asked about the absence of NCP at the meeting, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad told reporters he had personally spoken to Pawar, who in turn informed him that he was unwell and was therefore skipping the meeting. JD (U) has two MPs in the Lok Sabha and nine in Rajya Sabha, which is very crucial for the BJP considering it is in minority in the Upper House. "All the party legislators, leaders, who are close to the government for personal benefit are with Nitish Kumar, but leaders and workers close to the people are with me", Yadav said in Bihar's Madhepura district on the last day of his three-day Samvad Yatra to meet people and interact with them.

Accusing the Modi government of indulging in false and hollow promises, the congress leader said people know that Congress will do, what it says.

'The whole party agreed to Nitish Kumar's decision to dissociate itself from the grand alliance in Bihar, ' he added. Yechury said the Left parties in Bihar will take a decision soon on whether to participate or not in the rally.

If the exit of the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) from the group of 18 parties that have been working together to challenge the Modi government will cast its shadow on a meeting of the Opposition scheduled to be held here on Friday evening, another crack may have just appeared in their unity.
