Nintendo sued over alleged patent violations in the Switch's design

And while many owners love the hybrid's portable nature, one accessory maker believes Nintendo has copied patented features from a gaming tablet it released in 2013.

Nintendo is accused of infringing USA patent number 9,126,119, called "Combination computing device and game controller with flexible bridge section".

The patent Gamevice alleges Nintendo is violating is called "Combination Computing Device and Game Controller with Flexible Bridge Section". A tablet/mobile device slides into the device to allow you to play mobile games with traditional console controls.

Gamevice demands that Nintendo stop selling the Switch, pays damages for infringing the patent, and pays attorney fees, costs, and all other expenses related to the action.

It may have taken the Switch longer to launch, but this seems like another lawsuit Nintendo should be able to defend itself from without too much of an issue.

Gold On Verge Of USD1300 After North Korea Threats
The dollar index .DXY , which measures the USA currency against a basket of other major currencies, fell 0.14 percent. OIL: Benchmark U.S. crude added 39 cents to settle at $49.56 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

It's apparent that both devices have a lot in common and have a lot of differences, but it will ultimately be up to the courts to decide whether Gamevice actually has a case against Nintendo.

In October past year, Nintendo announced a new home gaming console, the Nintendo Switch.

So far, Nintendo has not commented on the lawsuit but I imagine their lawyers are gearing up to shut this down as fast as possible. The game is also headed to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this month on August 29.

Gamevice's Wikipad (pictured below) is the device that the Switch supposedly uses the patents from.

With Gamevice's lawsuit against Nintendo, it could possibly become a threat to the Switch's success moving forward.
