Pentagon Ready to 'Fight Tonight' as Tensions Between US, North Korea Escalate

Pentagon Ready to 'Fight Tonight' as Tensions Between US, North Korea Escalate

"Kim Jong-un, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader".

U.S. President Donald Trump and the Kim regime now seem to be locked into a war of words.

"We consider the U.S.no more than a lump which we can beat to a jelly any time", the Korean Central News Agency said, quoting Institute of International Studies researcher Kang Kum Chol.

They agreed that North Korea must stop its provocative and escalatory behaviour, the White House said.

Trump doubled down Thursday, saying his previous bold statements might not have been "strong enough" for Kim Jong Un, whose regime announced a plan to fire four missiles near the US island territory of Guam in response to the White House's bold rhetoric.

European markets end lower amid geopolitical tensions
Ten-year USA yields dropped 4.3 basis points to 2.24 per cent and German equivalents fell 3 bps to 0.43 per cent, a six-week low. It is now on track for its biggest weekly drop since the week before the November 8 USA presidential election.

Trump's warning came after the North Korea threatened to fire ballistic missiles over Japan towards the US Pacific island of Guam.

Meanwhile, James Clapper, former director of National Intelligence, said he feared the president's rhetoric could "spiral" out of control into a global conflict. I mean, his rhetoric might make Kim Jong-un think that he needs to strike first.

Earlier it was reported that the DPRK military is developing as a "warning" United States plan for a start-up of four ballistic missiles, medium-range Hwasong-12, which must fly over the territory of the Japanese prefectures of Shimane, Hiroshima Prefecture, Kochi Prefecture, to cover the distance in km 3356 1 065 seconds (18 minutes) and fall in the 30-40 km from the us base on GUAM.

"It's somewhat reminiscent to me of the history of World War I and how the world kind of blundered into that", Clapper said in an interview with CNN.

Clapper said the United States and North Korea could "blunder" into global military conflict as they exchange escalating hostilities.
