People living in fear, will fight to save composite culture: Sharad Yadav

People living in fear, will fight to save composite culture: Sharad Yadav

The ruling JD-U in Bihar moved a step closer to split on Wednesday with revolting party MP Sharad Yadav announcing to hold "Sajha Virasat Bachao' (Save Composite Culture) conference in Delhi on Thursday".

He said that JD-U President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also been invited to participate.

Yadav said apart from the Congress, the Left and the SP, representatives of other opposition parties, including the TMC, BSP and NCP, will also attend the meeting, being widely seen as a show of strength against his party chief Nitish Kumar's decision to ally with the BJP. When asked who all would turn up, he said, "There would be hardly anybody from the Opposition who will not come".

ANI quoted Yadav as saying that the composite culture of India is under threat and that it was therefore important to launch the programme.

Senior JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav didn't seem too happy with Nitish resorting to changing his stance on the saffron party and held a Jan Samwad Yatra wherein he interacted with the people of the state to gauge the public sentiment regarding the snapping of the Grand Alliance.

Leon Draisaitl signs 8-year, $68 million contract with Oilers
He added another 16 points during Edmonton's first playoff run in more than a decade - separated, eventually, from the precocious Oilers captain.

Yadav was flanked by Ali Anwar Ansari, a Rajya Sabha member who has been suspended from the parliamentary party by the JD (U), and Arun Shrivastava, recently sacked from the post of general secretary as he spoke to reporters.

He said incidents such as the suicide of University of Hyderabad student Rohith Vemula and the disappearance of Jawaharlal Nehru University student Najeeb Ahmed, besides suicide by farmers across the country, show that the situation was not good for people from economically weak background.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would be participating in the programme.

"The leaders of Opposition parties have been discussing for the last three months to convene a conference as to how to save our composite culture", Yadav said.
