Robert Kirkman leaves AMC, signs new development deal with Amazon

But Skybound-the entertainment company founded by The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman-just announced that Amazon will be the home of all their new TV content moving forward.

The deal, announced Friday, will have the team develop television projects to debut exclusively on Prime Video, Amazon's streaming service that competes with the likes of Hulu and Netflix.

The Walking Dead is one of the most talked-about shows on TV. He also serves as a consulting producer on the Talking Dead aftershow and executive produces the AMC series Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics. Kirkman's popular demonic-exorcism comic, Outcast, was adapted, produced and airs on Cinemax. "Being able to not only continue that relationship, but also expand it into new territory with the vast resources of Amazon, means great things are ahead for myself, David Alpert, Skybound and fans of awesome entertainment".

"Robert is a gifted storyteller who shares our passion for elevated genre storytelling that pushes boundaries", said Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Event Series, Amazon Studios in a statement. Kirkman's comics success include ongoing Image series' Invincible, as well as Thief of Thieves, both of which have had successful runs and built a strong following.

The Beckham Family Visited the Modern Family Set
Victoria and David both sported hats for the visit, she a black baseball cap, he a fedora and a Modern Family T-shirt. Victoria Beckham shared a rare family photo of all her kids , as well as herself and David Beckham , on Instagram.

Cynthiana native Robert Kirkman, creator of "The Walking Dead," is leaving AMC to develop shows for Amazon's streaming service. Based on Kirkman's comic book series of the same name, The Walking Dead is TV's No. 1 scripted drama among the key advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and a billion-dollar franchise. In addition, Invincible is being developed at Universal with Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg working on the superhero tale. The company has global play Five Year; VR series GONEfor Samsung's Milk VR; VR horror series Lies Within for Delusion. None have had the seismic impact of The Walking Dead though.

This also sounds reasonable because The Walking Dead is in alignment with those qualifications. Analysts have estimated that Prime members spend more than double what nonmembers spend on Amazon.com.

In other words, the market is getting increasingly competitive, and Amazon is doing everything it can to keep you tuning in, such as singing a deal with Kirkman that allows it to get early access to any new productions he may have in mind.

Amazon Channels: Over 100 video subscriptions to networks like HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ, PBS KIDS, Acorn TV, and more, available to Amazon Prime members in the USA as add-ons to their membership.
