StarCraft Remastered Confirmed, Bringing Original to 4K

It has been almost 20 years since the original StarCraft was released, giving players a chance to lay waste to their opponents on galactic battlefields with their hordes of Zerg. There is also now matchmaking support for allowing users to find competitive multiplayer matches online.

"We know how much StarCraft and Brood War mean to our community around the world, and our primary mission with StarCraft: Remastered was to enhance as much as we could while keeping the core StarCraft experience intact", said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.

"Remastered" is an upgraded version of the former "Starcraft" game fitted with upgraded graphics and an improved soundtrack.

If you prefer, though, you can go back to the original StarCraft in classic mode, which is included for no additional charge.

In the case of the original "Starcraft", Korean PC bangs purchased the game package one-off and were not required to pay any additional fees.

Microsoft expands Azure to two new Australian regions
This increases the number of Azure regions announced across the globe to 42, which is more than any other major cloud provider. This is being achieved through a strategic partnership with the Australian-owned firm Canberra Data Centres (CDC).

Remastered is the remastered version of the 1998 real-time strategy video game StarCraft and its expansion Brood War. "It's a lot more than just a small content patch".

The announcement on the official site details the new additions and revisions.

Blizzard's justification for the new policy is that the Remastered version affords a range of in-game benefits for those who play it at PC bangs, such as extra experience points, thus benefitting PC bang owners and justifying the fees.

The petition was filed with the FTC on August 13. Now after a few months of waiting, Blizzard has launched StarCraft Remastered.
