Democrats to Special Counsel Mueller: We Have Evidence Michael Flynn Broke Law

In August, his team requested any and all documents the White House had on Flynn, and now it seems the House Democrats have offered Mueller their own batch of evidence regarding the ousted official. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and Eliot Engel (D-NY), Flynn never disclosed his role in brokering the deal when he reapplied for his national security clearance upon returning to the United States after his trip to the Middle East in 2015.

However, just as Flynn reportedly refused to comply with a subpoena to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, the former national security advisor and his lawyers refused to respond to Cummings and Engel's letter.

The alleged violation of the law could help prosecutors in compelling Flynn to assist in the larger investigation of Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Robert Kelner, Flynn's lawyer, declined to comment. The reactors would be "proliferation proof", meaning they could not be used to produce fuel for nuclear weapons.

The Democrats say that Flynn could face prison for refusing to disclose the trip and his foreign contacts on his security clearance renewal application.

Cummings is the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee and Engel is the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which has jurisdiction regarding the security clearance process.

The lawmakers describe the deal as a 'joint U.S.

House Democrats provided details in a letter to special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating wether Trump campaign aides colluded with Russian Federation to win the White House.

Trump, who took office on January 20, fired Flynn on February 13, 18 days after a top Justice Department official warned that the former Defense Intelligence Agency director could be blackmailed because Moscow knew he made misleading statements about his contacts with Russian officials.

The lawmakers wrote that replies from the executives and Kelner to a June letter confirmed that Flynn made the trip.

Alex Copson, the managing director of ACU Strategic Partners, one of the businesses involved with Flynn, told CNN that his firm sent Flynn a check for $25,000 "to compensate him for the loss of income and business opportunities resulting from this trip".
