Khamenei warns of Iran's 'tough reaction' if United States alters nuke deal

The State Department announced on September 14 that it will continue to waive sanctions on Iran as part of the nuclear agreement, but no decision had yet been made on whether to preserve the deal itself.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned what he termed "Washington's disloyalty to the 2015 nuclear deal", warning that "any wrong move" by the U.S. will be followed by Tehran's "tough reaction".

"The Iranian nation is standing firm and any wrong move by the domineering regime regarding the [nuclear deal] will face the reaction of the Islamic Republic", Ayatollah Khamenei warned, in a speech to graduates of Iran's military academy, adding, "Today, despite all the commitments and discussions in the negotiations, America's attitude toward these negotiations and their outcome is completely unjust and amounts to bullying".

"Iran, which is a powerful nation, will not give in to pressure and will not bow", Khamenei said in an address to police officers in Tehran.

Imam Khamenei criticized U.S. officials, stating: Corrupt, lying and deceitful USA officials blatantly and falsely accuse Iran of lying.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei responded Sunday to US President Donald Trump's claim about Tehran violating the nuclear deal's "spirit".

Addressing a meeting on Sunday, Larijani lambasted Congress for what he said was their stand against the deal and repeated violations of it, asking the USA to stop its empty rhetoric regarding "the spirit of the agreement".

After years of tension with the West, Iran struck a deal with the world powers of Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany in July 2015, under which Iran agreed to limit its uranium-enrichment activities in return for the lifting of western and worldwide sanctions.

His remarks came after Congress voted in favor of new measures that block sales of commercial aircraft to Iran.

Iranian senior officials on Sunday warned against the US "breach" of nuclear deal reached in 2015 and called for Washington's adherence to its pertaining commitments.
