Options for North Korea are 'effective and overwhelming'

U.S. President Donald Trump and South Korea's President Moon Jae-in have agreed to toughen sanctions against North Korea in a bid to curb the North's nuclear ambitions. "This includes the regime of North Korea, which has once again shown its utter contempt for its neighbours and for the entire world community", he said.

Just two days ago, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, the latest in a series of missile tests defying the worldwide community.

Recall that a day after fresh sanctions by the UN Security Council was slammed on North Korea, the pariah nation declared that the United States will "suffer the greatest pain" over its role in the imposition of the sanctions.

Moon and Trump agreed it was important to thoroughly implement U.N. Security Council resolutions against Pyongyang, including the latest sanctions resolution unanimously adopted at the start of last week to punish the North for its latest nuclear provocation.

Trump, who has not ruled out military options in dealing with North Korea's weapons programs, told military personnel and their families at the Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, "Our options in addressing this threat are both effective and overwhelming".

"The leaders shared the importance of implementing the U.N. Security Council resolution under close cooperation with the worldwide community and agreed to continue their discussions on the issue", the Cheong Wa Dae spokesman said.

"For those who have said, and been commenting about a lack of a military option, there is a military option", McMaster said.

Trump has threatened "fire and fury" in response to North Korea's threats.

Then again, he was playing against the Saints defense, and the Steelers have a solid front seven that can take the run game away. Indeed, Smith threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns in the opener last season, but the Chiefs didn't score a TD the next week.

North Korea has launched a trio of missiles in recent weeks and tested a bomb that was its most powerful to date.

In a phone conversation Sunday, South Korean President Moon Jae-In and Trump "gravely condemned" the latest missile test on Friday, which came just days after United Nations Security Council announced a raft of new sanctions against Pyongyang.

Trump's remarks came after North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido earlier on Friday, the latest in a stream of missile tests that have looked to defy the global community.

Mr Cui said the USA, not China, needed to take more responsibility for the issue. North Korea also has the world's largest standing army.

Trump's United Nations envoy called North Korea "reckless".

"I don't think that he'll stray too much outside of the boundaries of that", Collins said.

"The South Korean government said they fired a missile within minutes afterwards, from their coastline".
