Wolfsburg earn comeback draw at Bayern to snap losing run

Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti has slammed his own side for their abject performance against Wolfsburg in Friday night's 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern raced into a half-time lead thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski and Rafinha, who unwittingly deflected in Arjen Robben's already goal-bound shot.

Ancelotti said: "Tom is back with us because we worked with him previous year and he did well".

Bayern have no dropped points in two key matches this season, having previously lost 2-0 in a shock away defeat to Hoffenheim.

The importance of Bayern's injured goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was laid bare as his stand-in Sven Ulreich made a massive mistake trying to deflect Maximilian Arnold's long-range free-kick and cut Bayern's lead in half in the 56th minute.

Robben fired wide when he had only the goalkeeper to beat, and Bayern was to rue the miss when Paul Verhaegh crossed for Didavi to score with a glancing header in off the far post with seven minutes remaining. "Sven made a mistake, but the result is that we did not play well as a team".

"It was hard because we didn't play how we wanted to play - we played slowly without intensity".

"He'll come back in January, he needs some rest and after that we will prepare him for the second half of the season".

Wolfsburg's German midfielder then found a way past Ulreich with his first goal since February, and in some style too.

"In Paris we have to play differently".

"Manuel Neuer has sustained another injury and we're incredibly sorry for him", said Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. I am not their father or brother - I'm only the manager.

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels was more forthright with his opinions after the game. When you let in a goal like that, the game becomes completely open and you can always let in another. At 2-1 we wanted and had chances.
