Aarushi murder case: Allahabad High Court to deliver verdict today

One of the family members of Talwar said they are relieved and grateful to god for the verdict announced by Allahabad High Court, that has acquitted Rajesh and Nupur Talwar of double murder charges in the Aarushi murder case on Thursday. The landmark verdict said that the parents of Aarushi Talwar, who were the prime suspects of the murder, had to be acquitted as there was no substantial evidence which pointed tyo their being guilty.

The court said it is giving them the benefit of the doubt.

However, Hemraj's body was found found on the terrace of Talwar's residence the next day.

Initially, the UP police had suspected Talwars' servant Hemraj, who was missing after the murder, as the murderer.

The Special CBI court in Ghaziabad had previously sentenced the Talwars to rigorous imprisonment for life.

Since then Rajesh and Nupur Talwar are imprisoned in Ghaziabad's Dasna jail.

Pinaki Misra, another defence counsel, said the CBI court judgment was "absolutely perverse and the High Court has set it aside correctly". The CBI said that it is waiting for a copy of the judgment and after going through it would move the Supreme Court in appeal.

Her successful middle-class parents told police they were asleep in the next room when the murder was committed. The court ordered that the couple, whom a CBI court had in 2013 sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering their 14-year-daughter and domestic help in their Noida home, be immediately released as circumstantial evidence against the duo was inconclusive and their guilt could not be sufficiently established. She (Nupur Talwar) said they got justice today and had tears of joy.

Indeed, the film did make the viewer's sympathies tilt towards the parents of the murdered child, showing in meticulous and painstaking detail how the entire investigation was messed up from the word "go".

In 2009, the CBI had handed over the murder case to a new team and suggested a closure of it. Rajesh Talwar was similarly arrested, then released, then re-arrested. The court hall was a packed one as the judge pronounced the verdict.

The three were later freed after no evidence was found against them.
