Browns QB Hogan replaces Kizer as starter

Kevin Hogan will replace Deshone Kizer as the staring quarterback of the Browns on Sunday, coach Hue Jackson announced this morning. Deshaun Watson's meteoric rise continues for the Texans, but the Browns have pulled the plug on DeShone Kizer.

Browns quarterback Kevin Hogan will start this week for Cleveland, and likely for the foreseeable future. That's typically a sign of a looming quarterback change, and Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer has reported Hogan will make his first National Football League start Sunday against the Houston Texans. He gets the ball out quickly and accurately, neither of which Kizer could do.

Jackson said: "I've made the decision to start Kevin this week". "He's worked extremely hard and still very much has a bright future".

Hogan was a fifth round pick of the Chiefs a year ago out of Stanford. He completed five of 11 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens while Kizer recovered from a migraine.

"As an offense, we would be comfortable with either one of those guys back there", Thomas said. "The more time you can work together, the better you're going to be, in general". The winless rookie is completing less than 51 percent of his passes and has thrown nine interceptions to his three touchdowns.

In relief of Kizer, Hogan went 16-19 for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He has a 104.8 passer rating.
