Chelsea's N'Golo Kante facing three weeks out - Antonio Conte

Kante is set for three weeks out with the hamstring problem he suffered while playing for France during the global break, but there is encouraging news on Morata, who could recover from his own hamstring injury in time to face Roma in midweek.

Kante limped off in the first half of France's 1-0 win over Bulgaria last Saturday and is not expected to return until mid-November, while Danny Drinkwater is still afflicted by the calf problem that has prevented him from making his Blues debut.

"Wilfried has trained for two weeks over the global break so therefore there is no reason why I shouldn't consider him for the game against Chelsea", Hodgson told club website.

"The previous scan [was] maybe 20, 25 days [out of action]".

"We are going to do a scan next week to check Kante's situation, if he's improving". Kante is important for our team and we don't have another player with the same characteristics.

Michy Batshuayi could replace Morata in the starting XI, or manager Antonio Conte could use Eden Hazard, Pedro or even Cesc Fabregas as a false 9. "For me David is one of the best central defenders".

"As we approach the end of the year-you know, we're getting near that attractive Christmas season that people don't talk about anymore".

"For sure we're not lucky in this period". "We have to approach seven games in one month and we have to find different solutions in this period: to adapt some defenders in midfield, or give opportunities to young players like Scott or Ampadu".

"It will be very hard play Fabregas and Bakayoko for seven games in a row and we must hope we don't get any more injuries during this time".

David Luiz could be also an alternative midfield option having already been deployed in the position against Tottenham earlier in the season.

"If I can, I prefer not to change a lot". "When I made a decision to use him in the midfielder against Tottenham, it could be an option if I play with three midfielders".

Morata had a scan last week, with Spain's medical staff claiming that he had suffered a grade two hamstring injury.

"I hope to have Morata back against Roma", Conte said at a press conference.
