Every year college students are at risk for getting the flu from being in close quarters with one another, and experts say that getting the vaccine is the best way to avoid getting sick. After all, the more people in the community that receive the flu vaccination, the healthier everyone is.

"There's a term called cocooning, which is where every one of us who can get a shot, should", said Pam Whitney with the Missoula County Health Department.

Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue, and sometimes vomiting and diarrhea.

The flu vaccine is considered to be a 12-month long protection against the virus.
