Couple discovers hidden camera in bedroom of Airbnb

Starnes, who works in the tech industry, apparently noticed a tiny black hole on the side of a smoke detector in the condo's bedroom.

Bob Bourque told the New York Post that authorities seized "a lot of computer storage data drives, hard drives, computers, laptops [and] SD cards".

There have been a few other alleged instances of Airbnb voyeurism in recent years.

Police found two smoke detector cameras inside the home.

Police said on Monday that a man put his townhouse up an Airbnb, but the home was loaded with hidden cameras, according to a WFTS report.

Last month, an IN man and his wife were staying at a Longboat Key condo they found on Airbnb at 623 Cedars Court. "We don't know if there are local victims, someone who may have been dating him or a companion that doesn't realize they are being videotaped, and then we have the other side of who he rented to through Airbnb". There was another similar smoke detector in the living room.

The story about an IN couple discovering a hidden camera IN their Florida Airbnb rental is taking the internet by storm.

56-year-old Wayne Natt was arrested in the city of Longboat Key after a couple staying at his home discovered the cameras pointing at the master bedroom.

Starnes said Airbnb needs to do more to keep this type of thing from happening. Starnes shared to ABC, "My wife and I are distressed by this situation".

Natt lives in the unit when it's not rented and told investigators the cameras are for his personal use and aren't turned on when guests are there.

Bourque said the cameras "were also Wi-Fi capable so they beam a signal, (Natt) didn't have to wire them in".

"He says that everyone videoed had knowledge he was videoing them", Bourque said.

"Our question is, if people are aware the cameras are there, why are they hidden in smoke alarms?"

"He said it was for recording sexual activity, and his only response was it gave him a better angle", Bourque said.

According to Airbnb representative Benjamin Breit, Airbnb has reached out to local law enforcement to help them with their investigation.

Airbnb officials said they're "outraged" by the accusations and permanently banned Natt from its service as soon as it learned of his arrest.

"We take privacy issues extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy against this behavior", Breit continued.
