Disney puts off Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale

Animation is known for its long development process and it is not uncommon for projects to be put on the shelf or to morph from one concept to another.

Yet, on paper, huge seemed to contain all the necessary elements for a new classic, with its variation on the fairy tale Jack and the Giant Bean, located in Spain in the old, where good old Jack had to help a giant teenager to return home. Yet, this is exactly what has happened with big, ex-Giants, the new film from Nathan Greno, director of the excellent Rapunzel.

According to Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios president Ed Catmull in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the cancellation isn't for a lack of trying.

Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez were also attached to write original tunes for the film, with Disney hoping to rekindle that Frozen magic that brought them so much success. Yet that's the fate of Disney's big.
