Mass shooting suspect's father was on FBI Most Wanted List

Mass shooting suspect's father was on FBI Most Wanted List

He had a pilot's license and had owned two single-engine planes.

News reports suggest Stephen Paddock, a reclusive professional gambler who lived in a retirement community in Nevada, had a very limited public profile before perpetrating one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history.

He would play poker at the local casinos, where regulars recalled his face but little more. "The most Wanted" list of Federal Bureau of Investigation was far of Paddock, Benjamin Hoskin Paddock, who made an armed attack on field of music festival Route 91 Harvest. He, along with law enforcement wants to know where he got them and why he used them.

Stephen Paddock was a man described as just another guy whose footprint reveals nothing special.

He died by his own hand inside that Vegas hotel room.

Friends and family said the father and son didn't have a close relations.

Almost a decade later, Paddock did escape while serving a 20-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution at La Tuna in Texas.

A "wanted" poster for the elder Paddock warned that he was "diagnosed as psychopathic", "reportedly has suicidal tendencies", and "should be considered armed and very unsafe".

"His mother's side of the family was a relatively well-known family up here in Sheboygan due to their involvement in the maritime trade".

The article referred to Paddock as a merchant marine seaman, but Gross said he couldn't confirm whether Paddock actually served in the Navy or had been a merchant marine.

Another Tropical Storm on the Way?
That storm is producing squalls with heavy rain and strong, gusty winds over parts of the Bahamas and South Florida. The disturbance is now forecast by the models to move northward into the Gulf of Mexico.

"He was the least violent in the family during my childhood, " he said.

"As much as we might hope to we cannot banish evil from the earth, Congress can't do that, the president can't do that", he said from the Senate floor. Stephen Paddock lived in Viera, Florida from 2013 to 2015, records show.

A resident, Priscilla McBride, told The Dallas Morning News that Paddock often roamed the apartment property, casually talking to residents.

"I was born on the run, " he said. "There's nothing I can say". It's like he shot us. I couldn't be more dumbfounded.

The last time Eric Paddock spoke to his brother was after Hurricane Irma, when his brother texted to check on their mom. "He sent her a walker".

"He could be conning everybody, but this is an economic crime and he's an old man", the newspaper quoted Woodrich as saying.

Stephen Paddock checked into the hotel on Thursday. He had no criminal history.

His brother said he helped Paddock move into a new home a year ago and saw no automatic weapons.

"He has no military background or anything like that", the brother said. Paddock remained on the most-wanted list until 1977. All the purchases were legal and cleared routine federal screening, Sullivan said.

"There's absolutely no way I could conceive that my brother would shoot a bunch of people that he didn't know", Eric Paddock said Monday.
