Rafael Nadal battles past Grigor Dimitrov to reach Shanghai Masters semi-finals

World Number 1 Rafael Nadal beat Grigor Dimitrov in the Shanghai Rolex Masters quarter-final to book a semi-final clash with big-serving Croatian Marin Cilic.

The French and US Open champion took his one and only opportunity to break and that proved to be enough to eventually seal his progress in two hours and 32 minutes.

Wimbledon runner-up Marin Cilic also eased into the quarter-finals with a 7-6 (1) 6-4 defeat of American Steve Johnson.

Nadal got the mini-break for a 3-0 lead in the tie break, but sixth seed Dimitrov scrapped back to level, and then stunned the Spaniard to clinch the tie break.

Crude Oil Steadies After EIA Inventories
Traders said they would look to USA fuel inventory data on Wednesday and Thursday for indicators on price direction. The agency also raised its crude oil price outlook for both West Texas and Brent oil this year and next.

Roger Federer will cross swords with Richard Gasquet of France for a place in the semifinals.

The tournament's fourth seed did see his flawless serving record broken by Ramos-Vinolas, who broke Cilic for the first time in this year's Shanghai Masters during the second set, although it only delayed his advance into the final four.

Dimitrov began his bid to upset Nadal in confident fashion, and it wasn't until after he had saved three break points at four games apiece that he finally conceded serve and his opponent launched a forehand victor down the line.

Cilic was broken for the first time in his 29th service game of the week at 3-3 in the second set by Ramos-Vinolas. Albert had to dig deep in the third game of the second set, saving 4 break points, but he couldn't do the same next time around, as Cilic broke him in game 5, converting his 7th break point since the start of the match.
