Trump Turns Tables on North Korea

During Tuesday's drills, the US bombers, which flew from the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, staged simulated air-to-ground missile striking drills off the peninsula's east coast before flying across the country accompanied by the two South Korean fighters.

Officials feared the rogue nation would test another missile or nuclear bomb on Monday or Tuesday as North Korean citizens celebrated the 11th anniversary of the country's first nuclear test and the foundation of the ruling Worker's Party of Korea.

Pyongyang conducted its fifth nuclear test on the anniversary of the founding day of North Korea previous year.

South Korean and United States government officials have been raising their guard against more North Korean provocations with the approach of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of North Korea's ruling party, which fell on Tuesday.

In a tweet on Saturday, the president stated, "Only one thing will work" and an aide told the media that Trump is telegraphing that "military options are on the table". Trump lambasted "little rocket man" Kim Jong Un for going on a "suicide mission for himself and his regime" in the speech last month.

Secret intelligence documents and photos collected by the United States military were among what was stolen from South Korea's classified information by Pyongyang hackers in September 2016.

United States to Pull Out of UNESCO Over 'Anti-Israel Bias'
The magazine said the decision was aimed at saving money and to protest what the U.S believes is UNESCO's anti-Israel stance.

A South Korean presidential official said Tuesday's operation was part of a recently agreed upon rotational deployment of USA military assets to the peninsula, according to the Yonhap News Agency.

Russia's TASS news agency quoted North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho as saying: "With his bellicose and insane statement at the United Nations, Trump, you can say, has lit the wick of a war against us".

In May, an investigative team inside the defence ministry announced the hack had been carried out by North Korea, but did not disclose what kind of information had been taken. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed hope that the relevant countries "will not engage in words or deeds that provoke one another or raise tensions", while a Kremlin spokesperson stressed that [Moscow] has "demanded that the countries involved [in the North Korean nuclear issue] exercise restraint and avoid measures that exacerbate the situation". "Australia stands with South Korea in solidarity against provocative, illegal behavior of North Korea".

The vessels are the first to be designated under stepped-up sanctions imposed on North Korea by the 15-member council in August and September over two long-range ballistic missile launches and Pyongyang's sixth and largest nuclear test. "This positive process is worth a try", the paper said in an editorial late on Tuesday.

"The Korean-American relationship is very important and our visit to Chinhae gives us the opportunity to strengthen the outstanding relationship that exists between the USA and [South Korea]", said Cmdr.

The secretive state has been suspected of carrying out cyber attacks on South Korean electric utilities as well as on other government and financial institutions.
