Ellen Page to Star in 'Umbrella Academy' Netflix Series

He started creating "The Umbrella Academy" during downtime on the band's tours.

The Umbrella Academy follows the dysfunctional family of the Hargreeves, a group of young superheroes that come together in order to solve their father's mysterious murder. Vanya is Reginald's adopted daughter, and doesn't seem to have any superpowers of her own. Due to her lack of abilities, she's insecure about where she fits within the family and searches for her place in the world.

Steve Blackman (Fargo, Netflix's Altered Carbon) will serve as showrunner and executive produce alongside Bluegrass Television, Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse Entertainment. While we still don't have a proper release date for the series, aside from a vague 2018 release window given during its first press release, this is a big step forward for the adaptation that many comic book fans are ballistic over. These aren't the usual superheroes, and this series will embrace the singular tone of the graphic novels - dark yet humorous, supernatural yet grounded in reality.

Netflix just bagged a major star for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Umbrella Academy.

In 2007, Page burst onto the scene with her starring role in the film Juno, earning Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.

This won't be the first superhero project for Page either, who starred as Kitty Pryde in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand and reprised the role in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
