Lebanese cardinal arrives in Saudi Arabia to meet Hariri

Lebanon's Christian leader hopes to meet with Prime Minister Saad Hariri who announced his shock resignation on November 4.

In an exclusive interview from Riyadh with his party's Future TV, Hariri brushed aside rumors that he was under de facto house arrest in Saudi Arabia and hinted he could rescind his resignation if Hezbollah stopped getting involved in other conflicts outside of Lebanon. He vowed to return to Lebanon "within days".

Under Lebanese law the prime minister has to submit his resignation to the president, who must accept it for it to take effect.

Germany's Sigmar Gabriel also said Hariri should return as his departure has shaken Lebanon.

"The obscurity surrounding the condition of PM Saad Hariri since his resignation a week ago means that all positions and actions declared by him or attributed to him do not reflect the truth", President Aoun added.

Hariri announced his resignation on November 4, citing several reasons, including the security situation in Lebanon, for his sudden decision.

Hariri said on Sunday he would return to Lebanon "within days" to resolve issues with the militant group Hezbollah, his rivals in a coalition government formed a year ago. His father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, was killed by a vehicle bomb in Beirut in 2005. Then, when an natural disaster was reported in Iraq and Iran, she referenced it, telling Hariri it was to make sure people believed the interview was live.

As host, she also had 13 costume changes throughout the night! After the show, he took to his Instagram to thank the crowd. Rita looked flawless with her hair wrapped up in a towel, seemingly inspired by Mario Testino's famous towel series.

The resignation and its aftermath have thrust Lebanon back to the forefront of the conflict between Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shiite Iran.

The announcement from the Saudi mission at the United Nations came after the coalition fighting Yemen's rebels, known as Houthis, and their allies faced widespread worldwide criticism over the closure, with the UN and over 20 aid groups saying it could bring millions of people closer to "starvation and death".

Saudi Arabia's U.N. Ambassador Abdallah al-Mouallimi, asked whether Hariri is being detained, told a news conference at U.N. headquarters in New York: "That's preposterous".

"Whatever he chooses, we are with him". She first read the time from her phone and then reported to Hariri developments in Lebanon, including protests.

Hariri said he "can't be the only one making concessions while the others do whatever they want".

The announcement comes after Yemeni transport minister Murad Al Halimi said on Friday that airports in the government-held cities of Aden and Seiyun, in Hadramawt province, would be reopening.
