Militant, Army man killed in Kulgam gunfight

Two militants and an army man were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Tuesday. A gunfight was reported to be underway between security forces and militants in south Kashmir's Tral district as well.

The official said that a gun battle started at Kund - Qazigund in Kulgam district during a search operation in wee hours when militants fired upon the government forces. However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area, the militants opened fire, they said.

Despite restrictions and heavy deployment of the men in uniform, thousands of people, today, attended the funeral prayers of two youth at Brath Kalan and Pattan areas of Baramulla district. Both of them were shifted to the army's 92-Base hospital in Srinagar.
