Philippine protesters burn Swastika-shaped effigy of Donald Trump

Trump is slated to meet several times with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte (doo-TEHR'-tay).

In another odd and candid moment from the ASEAN summit, Duterte - who recently said he stabbed someone to death when he was a teenage because of "a look" - sang a Filipino love song "on the orders of Donald Trump" shortly before the summit. Trump is on a five-country trip through Asia traveling to Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Speaking to reporters Sunday, Trump said he will make a new announcement on trade when he returns to the United States.

Trump was standing on stage at the Manila summit alongside leaders including Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc when they crossed their arms for a traditional group handshake.

The two countries also vowed to increase cooperation on counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and will conduct additional exercises.

"It is the first prime ministerial visit in thirty-six years from India to Philippines".

His administration has said that those carrying out the killings have been acting in self defense, but many have condemned the extrajudicial slayings as a major human rights violation. "Thank you", Trump said after his bilateral meeting with Duterte.

On the ground, military operations continue to clear buildings for stragglers.

Both leaders have publicly praised the other and appear to have a good relationship, with some Filipinos even calling Duterte the "Filipino Trump".
