Putin hosts Turkey's president for talks focusing on Syria

Relations between Russia and Turkey are almost back to the level they were prior to the Turkish downing of a Russian warplane over Syria two years ago, the presidents of both countries have said.

"I am having trouble understanding these comments", Erdogan was quoted by reporters as saying on Monday before he flew out to Russia's coastal city of Sochi for talks with Putin.

Speaking alongside Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Putin said the Russian state nuclear agency Rosatom would begin work at the Akkuyu site in the near future.
