"After attending trial in court number 113 when Vinod was coming back with the police force, Abdul Khan shot him on his head". A country-made gun used by Khan, a resident of Nangloi, was recovered, police said. The undertrial was shot from the rear as he came out of the court building escorted by two police officers of the third battalion.Following the shooting, the second at the court this year, the police post incharge has been suspended and the SHO of the area police station (Prashant Vihar) sent to district lines pending inquiry, DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal said.Police officers said the undertrial was sacked upon from the rear around 11am.During probe, it was revealed that Vinod had been under custody for the past 14 days.

The incharge responsible for the security of Rohini court i.e. Incharge of Police Post Rohini Court Sub Inspector Narender has been placed under suspension and Station House Officer Prashant Vihar has been sent to district lines pending further inquiry, the DCP added.

"He was in judicial custody from last 14 days and during the investigation, it was revealed that he had no other criminal involvements". He had been arrested on October 30.

Though Vinod was rushed to a hospital, he was declared dead by doctors.

Indhuja was declared "dead on arrival" and Renuka and Nivedha were later taken to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital. The 25-year old accused Aakash, who ran away from the spot after committing the crime, was arrested later by the police.

However, the official was not sure about the actual motive behind the murder.

Vinod, 31, was shot dead while being taken back to the Tihar Jail. "We have written to the Delhi Police many times to beef up security or introduce a pass system here", claimed Sharma. Vinod gave him a cheque, which later bounced.

Vinod was allegedly involved in a case of cheating (forged signature) which he had committed in 2010 and the case was registered at the South Rohini police station.

Sources said that Khan might have been hired by the businessman who was duped by the deceased.
