Apple confident apps removed in China will be reinstated

For its part, Apple CEO Tim Cook hopes to see his company's apps back soon.

Apple's shares were little changed on Wednesday morning after Apple CEO Tim Cook discussed Apple's performance in a speech in China.

App stores run by Apple and Alphabet Inc.'s Google generate billions of dollars in revenue globally for them and China is a key target market as its users rely heavily on their phones for daily tasks ranging from grocery shopping to booking nail appointments.

Just a day after the conference, the think tank Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies posted a report, advocating for "democratic" internet governance and ranking the country behind the likes of the US, Japan, France, and Estonia, Reutersreported. "I have great hope on that and great optimism on that", Cook said at the Fortune Forum in Guangzhou, China.
