FIR filed against Fortis hospital: Haryana govt

Gurugram: After the incident of cancellation of Shalimar Bagh's Max Hospital license, Haryana's health minister Anil Vij has sought the cancellation of Gurgaon Fortis' land lease for charging Rs 16 lakh in treating a 7-year-old dengue patient.

The FIR, however, names only a doctor who is a "senior consultant in the department of paediatrics".

A case under section 304, part 2 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code was lodged at Sushant Lok police station against the doctor who worked with the paediatric department. If any negligence is found, action would be taken against the hospital. We are yet to receive a copy of the FIR or the full inquiry report of the committee deputed by the state.

He accused 18 persons, including chairman, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, executive vice-chairman, Fortis Healthcare, and nine doctors, for his daughter's death. We can comment only after receiving the report.

In his complaint, the deceased's father Jayant Singh held the hospital responsible for culpable homicide and also alleged forgery, cheating, destruction and adjustment of evidence and criminally negligence in the course of her treatment.

The Texans quarterback was hit by 49ers linebacker Elvis Dumervil on a third-down pass during the second quarter at NRG Stadium. He then could be seen arguing with that person and the team's trainer before being escorted to the locker room.

The complaint was submitted to the police on Saturday and the case was registered on Sunday, the police said. "We will proceed, with his complaint also being taken into account". It also raises questions on forgery of parents' signatures for hospital documentation and overpricing of drugs and consumables.

A statement from the district administration on Sunday evening said that additional sections may be added or more people included during the probe if police feel the need.

Apart from this, the Health Department has also directed the Haryana Urban Development Authority to check the norms and agreement pertaining to the treatment facility to the economically weaker sections. "I intend to meet the investigating officer tomorrow and discuss the matter". "We have received a 49-page complaint from the health department. It is under investigation and therefore no FIR has been registered yet", Ravinder Kumar said.

This is being done on the directions by state Health Minister Anil Vij, the spokesperson said in an official release.

"The Drug Controller Department has issued notice to the pharmacy running in the hospital for various shortcomings found and a reply is awaited". If the reply is unsatisfactory, their licences may be suspended or cancelled.
