Google cracks down on apps that gather personal data without consent

Under a new "Unwanted Software Policy" announced late last week, Google will now show warnings when apps acquired in this manner tamper with personal data. If Google flags an app or site, the webmasters can get guidance on the Search Console about the remediation and resolution of the warning. Many Android users don't know to venture deep into the Settings app to see their mobile usage, so Datally pulls those features out of Settings Network & Internet Mobile network, and presents it in an easy-to-understand way.

More importantly, this policy will extend to apps that have not been downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Google is continuing to tighten the rules when it comes to ads that appear in Android apps and is warning developers to be more clear about their programs' data collection behavior.

Derrick Rose rejoins Cleveland Cavaliers, resumes treatment for ankle injury
During trading deals that took place earlier this year, Rose agreed to adorn the Cavs jersey for one year. His status will be updated as appropriate when he reaches the point of returning to play, the team said.

Apps handling personal user data (such as user phone number or email), or device data will be required to prompt users and to provide their own privacy policy in the app.

Save up to 30% of mobile data through controlling data usage on an app-by-app. It's called Datally, and it has one function: to stop apps from gobbling up your precious gigabytes of data. "For example, during analytics and crash reporting, the list of installed packages unrelated to the app may not be transmitted from the device without prominent disclosure and affirmative consent", Google explains. Developers should refer to the Unwanted Software Help Center. Additionally, the app also features a big button at the top of the screen that will cut down all the background consumption of data on your device. Apart from highlighting the consumption, Datally will also suggest you the ways to bring down that consumption based on your usage and activity. To gain consent, the user will need to tap to accept or tick a check-box. And it's not just data-Datally could save your phone's battery life, too, by identifying apps that are doing too much when you're not using them.

It should be noted that Google is not outright banning apps that don't ask for permission.
