Google pulls YouTube from Amazon Echo Show, Fire TV

In a statement, Google said it had been "trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services" but, "given the lack of reciprocity", had chose to no longer support YouTube on Echo Show or FireTV.

"We've been trying to reach an agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services".

REUTER/Peter HobsonThe Amazon Echo, a voice-controlled virtual assistant, is seen at its product launch for Britain and Germany in London, Britain, September 14, 2016.

The version of YouTube that is available on Amazon Fire TV is described by Amazon as a standard web view that takes its customers to the YouTube website direct, rather than a dedicated app. Amazon accused Google of blocking access to an open website. This was resolved in November for Echo Show users, when Amazon began forwarding people using that device to a stripped-down third-party app that leveraged the YouTube website, instead of a native app. Prime Video has been available for some time on iPhones and iPads, however it had never been available on any of Apple's streaming TV boxes.

Ladbrokes Coral talks over takeover by Bwin owner GVC
The merger would follow previous combinations like that of Paddy Power and Betfair as well as Ladbrokes with Coral. Discussions in the summer disintegrated following a price dispute prior to a government-led gambling review.

Google has made a decision to pull out YouTube from all Amazon devices.

Amazon Prime Video is part of the Amazon Prime membership, now available for $10.99 or £7.99/month. Then, last month, Amazon pulled Nest's latest devices, including its cheaper thermostat, from its online store.

It said it hoped to resolve the issue with Google as soon as possible but customers could access YouTube through the internet - not an app - on the devices in the meantime. For instance, Amazon does not support Chromecast and Google Home on various platforms.

Google blatantly shows Amazon that the former is not taking competition lightly as the search giant has pulled out YouTube from Amazon Echo Show. Sadly if they do not reach an agreement you will have to mirror your smartphone on to the Amazon streaming device to watch YouTube on the big screen.
