Hornets coach Steve Clifford out indefinitely with health concerns

The Hornets did not disclose Clifford's illness.

Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford is expected to be away from the team indefinitely as he is dealing with health concerns, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

Clifford, 56, didn't coach in the team's 104-94 victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday evening and wasn't at the team's Tuesday practice, either, per Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

Hornets representatives said they had no further comment out of respect for Clifford's privacy.

They have also not released any details of the charges they faced, and are not believed to have given them access to their lawyers.

Silas has been an assistant for the Hornets since 2010, which pre-dates Clifford's tenure as head coach.

The Hornets are 9-13 this season and host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. "All that other stuff will go out the window when it's time to coach". But the Hornets can't be blamed for not offering specific details at this point.

"Currently, there is no timetable for his return", the team said in its statement.

The Hornets play a home game Wednesday against the National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors.
