Israeli army fires at Hamas post in Gaza, no injuries

Gaza: A tank and an aircraft targeted two military posts in the Gaza Strip, following projectiles that was sacked from the northern Gaza Strip and exploded in southern Israel, according to a statement made by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday.

The Israel Defense Forces sent soldiers to inspect the area for signs of impact, but, finding none, determined that the two rockets had not reached Israeli territory, a spokesperson said.

The launches set off incoming rocket alert sirens shortly after 6 p.m., in the Hof Ashkelon and Sha'ar Hanegev regions, northeast of the Gaza Strip.

The rockets were fired on Thursday evening as Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank protested the announcement on Wednesday by U.S. President Donald Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Hundreds of Palestinians protested on Thursday by burning posters of Trump, Israel's prime minister and the Israel and US flags.

"In response to that fire and the projectiles fired at Israel throughout the day that fell short in Gaza, an IDF tank and an [Israel Air Force] aircraft targeted two terror posts in Gaza", the military said in a statement.

Around two hours later the army said that another rocket, fired form the enclave's north, exploded in southern Israel.
