Lebanon PM Hariri revokes resignation as all parties agree on deal

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri said on Tuesday that he had withdrawn his resignation, a month after his shock announcement that he was quitting sparked a political crisis.

Hariri, who heads a coalition government that includes ministers from the Hezbollah, said all members of the government had agreed to stay out of conflicts in Arab countries.

"The government has unanimously approved a statement pledging compliance with a policy of dissociation, the president's oath of office in terms of dissociating the country from regional conflicts and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries", he added.

On Tuesday, Lebanon's cabinet reaffirmed its official policy of "disassociation", or remaining neutral in regional conflicts. Saudi Arabia denies this.

Hariri also announced that he will travel o Paris on Friday to meet with French diplomats and the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for talks on the recent upheaval.

Cold Front Brings Rain Tuesday: What To Expect
Mostly clear Thursday night with lows dropping down into the middle 20s in the outer suburbs to right around freezing in the city. The mountains of western North Carolina could see snow showers early Wednesday morning, but only rain outside of the mountains.

Hariri announced his resignation in a Nov 4 televised broadcast from Saudi Arabia, citing Hezbollah's meddling in regional affairs as a main reason for stepping down.

Hariri's planned departure was seen as the latest fallout from the proxy war between Sunni-majority Saudia Arabia and Shiite-majority Iran, who back different sides in Syria and Yemen's civil wars. The militant group plays a key role in Lebanon's government but its armed wing is fighting in Syria to support fellow Iran ally President Bashar al-Assad.

Although he is a Christian, Aoun has taken a sympathetic view of the Islamist Hezbollah.

"The council of ministers thanks the prime minister for rescinding his resignation", Hariri said, reading from a cabinet statement issued after its first meeting since his return two weeks ago.
