'Monster' Sports Doc Larry Nassar Facing Long Sentence For Child Porn

Some of the Maroneys' most cutting words went to Team USA and Michigan State, which previously employed Nassar.

Nassar pleaded guilty in July to receiving child pornography in 2004, possessing child pornography from 2003 to 2016 and destroying and concealing evidence in 2016 as he was under investigation, according to the USA attorney's office for the Western District of MI.

"Underneath this veneer lurked a predator", Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean Lewis said.

U.S. District Judge Janet Neff ruled that Nassar's federal punishment would start after any sentences handed down in state court for molesting gymnasts with his hands.

In lawsuits, two gymnasts have alleged they complained to Klages in 1997 about Nassar's treatment, to no avail.

He also said: "I really tried to be a good person". The judge Thursday ordered Nassar to serve his federal sentence - 20 years each for three counts - consecutively to state sentences, seemingly foreclosing any possibility he obtains an early release.

McKayla Maroney, now 21 and retired from the sport for more than a year, said Nassar - who also worked at Michigan State for decades and has been accused of sexually abusing former student-athletes there - "treated" her both before she and the "Fierce Five" won their team gold and before she won silver in the vault in London.

"When I first met Larry Nassar".

Maroney says that Nassar sexually abused her for years and was scheduled to deliver a victim-impact statement on Thursday.

Aside from the criminal cases, more than 100 women and girls are suing Nassar.

McKayla Maroney's letters to the judge presiding over Dr. Larry Nassar's case, coupled with her mum's, detail years of sexual abuse that changed the woman she's become.

While many victims have since said they tried to tell others about Nassar's behavior years ago, Denhollander's complaint was the first allegation against Nassar that was believed, prompting dozens of other survivors to come forward with similar stories.

In the federal case, prosecutors say Nassar downloaded images and videos of child pornography in 2004 and kept thousands of images and videos - some of which showed children under 12 - on his hard drive for years. When he turned in his work laptop computer, officials said it had been wiped completely clean, including the operating system. The hard drives were found by investigators because the trash truck on his street was late.

The videos included footage from a pool with Nassar swimming with several children, according to testimony from an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent past year. Toward the end of one clip, the agent testified, Nassar is seen allegedly grabbing a hand of one girl and shoving it into the crotch of another. A week later, Nassar pleaded guilty in another court to three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He admits he molested girls with his hands when they sought treatment for hip and back pain.
