Nissan to test their self-driving vehicle service in Japan 2018

Nissan and DeNA will recruit participants for a field test of the Easy Ride mobility service in Yokohama, Japan, until 15 January 2018...

The carmaker will put two Leaf electric cars, equipped with sensors and cameras and autonomous driving software developed by DeNA Co., on roads in a designated part of Yokohama, where Nissan is based.

"With "more freedom of mobility" as its concept, Easy Ride is envisioned as a service for anyone who wants to travel freely to their destination of choice in a robo-vehicle", Nissan said.

It comments that one of the more interesting aspects of Nissan's test is that users will be able to not only specify exactly where they want to go, but also use general written queries like "I want to eat pancakes" and have the auto automatically choose a relevant destination.

He added, "Repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching, and I'm committed to beginning that effort. The 76-year-old added his daughter is "feeling shocked" and "is now having sorrow for her children".

Nissan plans to combine its Intelligent Mobility vision with DeNA's experience in developing and operating driverless mobility services for the development of new Easy Ride brand.

Under their plan, customers can use a mobile app to call the robo-vehicle, set the required destination and pay the fare. Only time will tell whether there is any genuine cause for alarm in these trials, but Easy Ride will be monitored remotely, and support multiple languages for tourists in an effort to keep every user safe.

Nissan said on Tuesday it would begin field tests for driverless "robot taxis" early next year as its rivals around the world step up self-driving technologies.

Nissan and DeNA aim to provide the service as a new infrastructure option that supplements existing transportation. "With customers able to discover new local destinations through Easy Ride, the companies expect the service will also help energize cities and neighborhoods".
