One day after agreeing to become Florida State's next head football coach, Willie Taggart was introduced to the Seminoles' fan base during an introductory press conference Wednesday morning.

Taggart even wanted to play college football at Florida State, but he began his playing and coaching careers at Western Kentucky before spending four years rebuilding USF and this past season getting OR back on track. Taggart, however, is just the third Florida State head coach since 1976, which was the first season for former Seminoles coaching legend Bobby Bowden.

During halftime of Florida State's basketball game against Loyola (Md.), fans were able to hear from new football coach Willie Taggart.

"People say, "What attracted you to Texas A&M?' First and foremost, it was (athletic director) Scott Woodward", Fisher said in his opening statement".

Oregon's class, which was ranked No. 1 by Scout before Taggart was courted by Florida State, has slipped to No. 9 with four prospects decommitting. "We want to have a diverse pool, a broad pool, and we will have that". "I want our defense to back to where Florida State defense has been in the past", Taggart said.

Leavitt had a more successful run building South Florida with 95-57 record in 13 seasons as head coach, but he was sacked in 2010 after being accused of hitting a player.

He was also the head coach at Florida International for six seasons, posting a 27-47 record before getting fired. "I wanted him to come here, too", Gloria Taggart said.

"This is not a rebuild, it's a realignment".

Taggart said it was a hard decision to leave OR, because the people were so nice there. We're going to go out and find them and find the right guys, the right guys that are going to come here and do the right things. We're not going to make excuses.

Taggart was apologetic to his former employer and OR players, but said he was grateful for the opportunity to return to his home state. I apologize. The timing is probably not right, but it's never right when it's time to leave. "So I expect to go out and win a lot of ball games like they did". "I feel bad about that", Taggart said. "But this job was a dream for me". And you have to be from Florida to really understand. I wanted to come here and play.

". I wasn't going to leave it just for anything because it was ideal and my family loved it there and we had everything going the right way".
