Senior UN Official in North Korea for Talks

The Associated Press said that Jeffrey Feltman, UN undersecretary-general for political affairs, met with Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho on the second day of his visit.

The Federation Council press service reported that during the conversation, the Federation Council committee head and the North Korean ambassador to Russia exchanged opinions on the massive drills now conducted by the US and South Korea, as well as on North Korea's missile nuclear program.

Feltman began a four-day visit to the North on December 5. The UN said Feltman, who arrived yesterday, is visiting in response to "a long-standing invitation from the authorities in Pyongyang for a policy dialogue with the UN", reports the German DW news service.

Whether the comics were called Shazam or Captain Marvel, the character always had a friend in Freddy Freeman. Actor Jack Dylan Grazer has joined the cast of DCs superhero movie " Shazam! ".

Feltman is now the United Nations undersecretary-general for political affairs.

North Korea's official news agency on Wednesday quoted an unnamed Foreign Ministry spokesman strongly criticizing senior US administration officials' "bellicose remarks" and the ongoing military exercises.

Although Feltman does not represent the United States, hopes are high that visits by him or other diplomats, a senior Chinese official visited last month, might help relieve tensions that have been growing amid threats and taunts between Pyongyang and Washington. Chinese experts said Feltman's visit is "necessary and constructive" to ease heightening tensions on the peninsula, and it will help magnify the UN's role in resolving the peninsula's nuclear issue as an global organization, reported the China Daily. Six UN agencies, with approximately 50 worldwide staff, are represented in the North.
