Tennessee offers job to Alabama DC Jeremy Pruitt

University of Tennessee offered the job of head football coach to Alabama University's defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

Pruitt, a two-time Broyles Award finalist as the top assistant coach in college football, possesses two of the qualities that Fulmer put a premium on in his search for the Vols' next coach: a tough-minded defensive presence and a proven track record as a recruiter. And one of those questions has reportedly been answered.

ESPN's Chris Low reported earlier on Wednesday that a trio of SEC coordinators emerged as candidates for the vacant job. UT fired John Currie as athletic director after the Schiano episode and as Currie was courting Washington State coach Mike Leach.

Low said the Volunteers and Pruitt were in the process of finalizing a deal while Hyams revealed that a potential snag in the negotiations is the potential availability of Pruitt coaching in the College Football Playoff. After winning two national championships as the defensive backs coach under Nick Saban during his first stint at Alabama, he moved on to become defensive coordinator at Florida State. Prior to his DC stays with those southeastern programs, Pruitt coached at Alabama - his alma mater - for six seasons, the final three as defensive backs coach.

That statement doesn't address one of the biggest problems with letting Comcast and others become the gatekeepers to the internet. A Verizon spokesman said consumers had a favorable opinion of the company because it prioritized service over policy debates.

Pruitt's first coordinator job came at Florida State in 2013. During the 2014-15 season returned to the SEC as a defensive coordinator for Georgia.

This would be at least the second meeting with Pruitt, according to GoVols247. Last year, Pruitt's defense led the nation in scoring defense, giving up just 13 points per game.

Pruitt has been excellent at every one of his college coaching stops, and he has years of experience recruiting in the Southeast region.
