Crowd rallies for Louisiana teacher after her removal from board meeting

Louisiana educators are gathering at a rally, January 11, 2018, in support of a teacher who was arrested at a school board meeting during an altercation caught on camera.

"It should not have happened and it cast a negative light on our state and, you know, it's very regrettable", he said. "Just show up. Just do something".

Superintendent Jerome Puyau told KATC on Monday night that he called to ensure that police knew the school system was not pressing charges against Hargrave, but she was booked anyway, records show.

After Hargrave, a Rene Rost Middle School teacher, posed another question, the city marshal on duty escorted her out of the meeting.

The video then depicts Hargrave being handcuffed by the officer while on the ground before being dragged out of the building.

Mr Payou's contract was extended for three years by the board during that meeting and includes incentives for performance.

A video showed a city marshal, identified as Reggie Hilts, approaching her as she spoke during a portion of the meeting dedicated to public comment.

At that point, according to school board member Kibbie Pillette, Fontana beckoned to a school resource officer hired by the board, who confronted Hargrave, ordering her to get her things and go.

On Wednesday, Hargrave told NBC News she was still shaken. She bonded out of jail, and the city said she won't be prosecuted. Again, she asked board members how they could raise the superintendent's salary when teachers and students did the work in the classroom and teachers were not getting pay increases.

Stoke City has the league's worst road record at 1-7-3 to go along with a -17 goal differential on the road. I've spoken before about how the Cherries love to get on the front foot and press teams at the Vitality.

"Today my heart is broken for many reason but my will is not", she concluded. "But when is a good time for the superintendent to get a raise?"

"The Constitution prohibits the government from punishing or retaliating against people for expressing their views, and the fact that a schoolteacher was arrested at a public meeting of the school board is especially troubling", she said. You have to follow rules. "I'm trusting that you stand up subsequent to seeing the end result for me and you don't give it a chance to end up plainly a terrorizing to you". It's what you want to hear and it's the truth. So I chose to speak out.

Puyau said his staff and family have received death threats and obscene messages since the meeting. He said the school system offices went into temporary lockdown, and his daughters had to delete threats on their social media.

"It's sad that a woman has to be forcibly, violently removed from a board meeting for people to start caring", she said on "Today" of the response to the video.

"The realization that my students were going to see the video and I had to go to work the next day.I teach fifth and sixth graders so I wasn't sure how they would feel about it".

Pearl, a rare white crocodile first seen five weeks ago in Australia's Adelaide River, makes a surprise appearance for tourists on a crocodile sighting tour.

"I have a serious issue with a superintendent or any person of leadership getting any type of raise", Hargrave said at the meeting. "They're fine, so I'm fine", Hargrave continued. "Stop resisting", he replied.

"We are all stakeholders who not only have the right to speak up for our students, but we also have a duty to do so", Suzanne Breaux, president of the Vermilion Association of Educators, said at the rally on Thursday. "Use it. Many, many women suffered tremendously and sacrificed greatly for us to have this voice". "The arrest of middle school educator and LAE and NEA member Deyshia Hargrave is a chilling infringement on her rights but educators will not be silenced".
